Position: Senior Manager, Business Development Financial Analysis

General Function
In alignment with CIRI’s mission and values, performs financial evaluation of CIRI’s balance-sheet investments, including both equity and debt instruments. Participate in the investment analysis, sensitivity modeling, structuring opportunities, managing and executing due diligence and overall investment analysis resulting in recommendations to Senior Management concerning the merit and viability of proposed investment opportunities. Participate in negotiation and evaluation of deal structure pertaining to new investment opportunities, as well as negotiation and execution of final closing documents. For the existing portfolio, perform operational and financial analysis of operating subsidiaries and existing business assets in partnership with senior management.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
- Develop appropriate risk-adjusted investment-return analysis parameters for existing subsidiary operations and CIRI’s investment portfolio as a whole. Gather historical financial information, create medium-term forecasts, and incorporate long-term strategies into resource-allocation analysis.
- Analyze the investment merit and commercial potential of new business opportunities as well as existing investments. Perform market research, macro-economic analysis, corporate financial analysis, investment due diligence and risk evaluation. Assist in developing new business strategies and executing plans of action for business development projects.
- Prepare financial analysis, terms, risks and returns as part of the package for Board of Directors’ approval of new and existing investments.
- Evaluate the commercial and financial terms of proposed new investments or business opportunities. Estimate the impact of alternative deal dynamics and recommend optimum structure and terms that best promote CIRI’s returns and best protect CIRI’s interests.
- Assess financial impact of various financing/re-financing options for new and existing investments.
- Assist in the oversight and management of owned assets, subsidiary investments, development projects, and specific joint venture relationships and operations, as needed.
- Travel on behalf of CIRI, both individually and with others, to be an advocate for CIRI’s interests with investment partners or prospects.
- Evaluate and screen investment requests from shareholders and local community sources with ability to provide timely feedback to both the investment opportunity source and Senior Management.

- Ability to understand and interpret the financial statements of both publicly owned and privately held companies, including knowledge of the practice of financial and investment analysis and business valuation as they pertain to both and an understanding of the typical terms, conditions and steps required to complete the acquisition or divestiture of business and real estate assets as necessary.
- Analytical and verbal skills necessary to assist Senior Management in evaluating the implications of the commercial terms of investment transactions and to interpret and discuss legal documents pertaining to new and existing investments.
- Knowledge of financing concepts with respect to appropriate structure, fees, borrowing rates, collateral, guaranties and other forms of credit support.
- Analytical skills required to:
- structure, supervise and evaluate the results of due diligence work prepared by others including outside consultants retained to assist in the due diligence process;
- prepare due diligence analysis;
- assist in preparation of detailed investment recommendations based upon the results of a due diligence exercise.
- Ability to quickly become familiar with new industry, regulatory, valuation, and investment information and apply such information to investment analysis assignments.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills and financial-modeling skills to be able to develop and/or test and interpret complex spreadsheets, including projections for cash flow, income statement (GAAP and tax), and balance-sheet preparation.
- Must possess sufficient fine motor skills for use of computers, calculators with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion.
- Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis.

Minimum Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting and five to seven years progressively responsible experience in management, mergers and acquisitions, business valuation, business financial analysis or related area; or any combination of education, training and/or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. MBA, CPA or CFA designations preferred.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep financial acumen and have experience in one or more of the following industries: energy infrastructure, natural resources, renewable energy, real estate, construction and/or government contracting.
